FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
What time is check in and check
out?
The usual check in for guesthouses
in the Hill Country is anytime after 3:00pm.
If you desire earlier check-in,
please inquire when making your reservation to see if it’s available for
your arrival date. Often, due to others checking out on your arrival
day, it is almost impossible to “turn around” a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home
in less than 4 hours for its newly arriving guests. Inquire
at the time of reservation if this is important to you.
Check out is at 11:00am.
What about privacy and the hosts?
When you arrive at Deep in the
Heart, you will never see the owners unless you call them for some reason.
The guesthouse is your “home away from home” while visiting the
Hill Country. Your privacy is assured. You are on your own schedule,
breakfast included. You have the house and 5 acres to yourself and can get up when
you want.
Do we share the house?
When you make a reservation, only your group will have the guesthouse.
You will not share the property with anyone other than those in your pary/group.
What about internet connectivity?
Yes, Deep in the Heart has wireless
high-speed Internet access.
All you have to do is bring your
own computer with a wireless access card.
Instructions for connecting are
available when you arrive.
There is also a telephone which can be used for dial-up internet access.
Very few B&Bs or guesthouses
in Fredericksburg TX have such internet access available to its guests.
We pride ourselves in providing a full range of “everyday”
amenities.
What about breakfast at Deep in
the Heart?
You will be able to assemble breakfast with
fixings left for you by the hosts. In addition, pancake mix, grits, oatmeal, and
jams are also available to
you. A beverage bar offers coffee, teas, hot chocolate, and a coffee bean grinder. There is also a Brita water pitcher so you have
filtered water for drinking.
Do you have a refrigerator?
Yes. In fact, it is stocked
with various items and condiments for your stay.
You can bring or shop for groceries,
ice cream and wine and bring them all “home” with you. You wouldn’t
even have to leave the house the entire week-end if you didn’t want to.
What about cooking?
The kitchen is completely outfitted
with a an electric stove, refrigerator/freezer, 4 slice toaster, coffeemaker, pots, pans, dishes, serving pieces, utensils,
condiments (oil, spices, ketchup, etc) as as all the breakfast fixings
for you to assemble your own breakfast on your own schedule.
Housekeeping
All
beds that you have reserved are outfitted for your arrival. Plenty of towels and
wash cloths are
made available for each guest. There is no daily housekeeping.
Describe this so-called luxury
bathroom.
It’s very special. You will
remember it long after you’re gone. It touts one of the longest
and deepest “home” spa tubs we’ve seen in our travels. The panoramic
view from the bathroom is easily “covered” for privacy should you not
want to expose yourself to the wilderness that surrounds you. The
shower is a work of art which was designed and built by a local master
stone mason. It is a large walk-in (no door) curved wall shower made
of native stone found on the property. The heated tile floors speak
for themselves in cool weather. Custom lighting, the modern
sink and the size of the room all make an impression.
What if we have a dog?
Our property lends itself to having
a dog because of the large open spaces to run; shaded porches on which they can relax
and tile and wood flooring which are easy to maintain for pets. The
demand for such an amenity is surprisingly strong.
No other pets, please.
If your dog is housetrained, you
may book a reservation for your pet. We allow a maximum of two dogs
per stay. Cost is $25 per dog per night. We appreciate it when
owners use the gates & dog blankets we provide.
How far out of town is it?
The guesthouse is a relaxing, scenic
7 miles from the Post Office in Fredericksburg toward Mason on Hwy 87N.
It takes about 10 minutes from Main Street.
What about wineries or breweries
in the area?
There is one local microbrewery
in Fredericksburg located downtown on Main. It serves wonderful beers
and a variety of food items. You can even buy some beer to bring to the guesthouse or take home.
There are at least a dozen wineries
within a 20 minute drive of downtown Fredericksburg. Many have tasting
rooms in Fredericksburg proper. There is a list of Hill Country Wineries
under a separate category that you should look at if this is important
to you.
We have heard guests recommend
that you purchase a winery poster and have each of the wineries sign
as you meander through the Hills visiting them during your stay. Should
you decide to visit wineries and bring the wine back “home” with you
to the guesthouse, we provide cork screws and various wine glasses for
your use during your stay.
What about dining establishments
nearby?
We have a list in the guesthouse
which gives names, comments, phone #s and addresses of our favorite places.
What about getting massage services
during our getaway?
First Class Reservation Service
will be happy to help you book this. Just ask.
MANY people take advantage of a
total escape and reserve a massage package during their stay. Our
guesthouse is ideal for a double massage package. Many of our guests
have booked these special packages with glowing feedback.
